At VIVA Kids, our mission is to develop leaders who are passionately in love with Jesus. Each week, future world-changers from ages 6 months to grade 5 participate in age-appropriate activities that include interactive Bible stories and lessons, energetic worship, creative crafts, and fun games. Our programs are tailored to each age group from the nursery to grade 5, but share the goal of instilling Christian values and fostering a deep love for God. Our dedicated team of caregivers and teachers ensures a safe, welcoming space where children can explore their faith, build meaningful friendships, and experience the joy of a vibrant church community. Join us at VIVA Kids, where every child is valued, loved, and encouraged to thrive in their spiritual journey.
VIVA Kids Values:
World Changer Motto:
I am a world changer. Today I will use my ears to listen closely, my mouth to speak kindly and my hands to help gently. With God's help, there is nothing I cannot do. Instead of having a bad attitude, I will have a humble heart. I will smile and cheer others on, because together, we will change the world!
Join our Sunday services at VIVA at 8:45am, 10:30am or 12:15pm and our team will help you get checked into VIVA Kids! We can't wait to meet your world changers. Check-in begins at 8:15am, 10:00am and 11:45am respectively for each service.
In order to keep rooms safe, we ask that children go to their assigned room. What we teach and the activities we prepare for in each room are specific to the designed age group.
Yes, check-in closes at 9:05am, 10:50am and 12:35pm respectively. If you arrive past the cut-off time, you are more than welcome to keep your children with you in the service or in the overflow. Having a cut-off time ensures our VIVA Kids team is available to receive your children when they arrive, that your children are able to participate in the full program, and to minimize disruption after the program has begun.
Each week in VIVA Kids there’s an opportunity for kids ages 3 to grade 5 to earn VIVA Bucks and spend them periodically in the Toy Store. Kids can earn VIVA Bucks by practicing our VIVA Kids Values, saying our World Changer Motto, saying the Big Word, bringing their Bible, bringing a friend and many other ways! We open up the toy store every other month.
Team members in the Dreamers room (6 months - 2 years) are not permitted to change diapers, as we have a “no diaper change” policy. When a child needs a diaper change, we call the parent or guardian to change it. Children 3 years and up are required to be potty trained to attend VIVA Kids.
Yes! Each of our rooms offer pre-packaged snacks every Sunday and have gluten/dairy free options. If your child is a Dreamer (5 months - 2 years), you can pack your own snack for them.
Parents are welcome to come in VIVA Kids with their child, but we ask that you do not stay longer than 10 minutes.
If a child isn’t following our rules and values in VIVA Kids, he/she will be reminded of what is expected, but if the behaviour continues he/she will be removed from the group and “take a break” to think about their behaviour. On the third occasion, the parent will be asked to collect their child and keep them for the remainder of the service, but is welcome to come again the following service.
We want to assure you that the health and safety of your children and providing them not only with quality childcare but also investing in their development is of the upmost importance to us. Our plans are in accordance with the current guidelines and recommendations made by the province of Ontario, and have been approved by the Durham Region Health Department. Our volunteers have been taken thorough training and been through adequate screening to ensure the health and safety of your children is in the best hands.
To ensure the health of children and VIVA Kids Team Members, we ask that sick children do not attend VIVA Kids. The Ontario Government recommends that a child should not leave home when any of the following symptoms exist: fever (over 38 degrees), vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours, any symptom of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox, or whooping cough, common cold, sore throat, croup, any unexplained rash, any skin infection- boils, ringworm, or impetigo, untreated pink eye or other eye infection, lice, including the presence of eggs or nits.
VIVA Kids Team Members do not administer medication of any type.
